Charles Ressler and Charity Faith are the latest guests on the Las Vegas Social Media Show. The pair was in the studio to discuss First Friday, one of the largest arts festivals in the western United States. First Friday averages about 25,000 attendees per event, and the festival celebrates local art, food, music and culture.
Mr. Ressler works with communications and brand experience for First Friday. He explained that the festival started around 11 years ago when a group of downtown artists wanted a space to showcase their work. It went on like this until a few years ago, when the festival closed down for a few months. However, new ownership has revived the event and it is stronger than ever.
Visitors can expect to find an amazing variety of things to do and see. Over 120 artists and 30 food vendors set up each month. The festival also features a bicycle valet, free art and yoga classes, an organic juice bar and many other exhibits.
Ms. Faith and Mr. Ressler also talked about First Friday’s use of social media. They use Facebook mainly for 1-2 informational posts per day. Twitter is used to engage followers and is more conversational and communicative. Instagram is used more during the actual event and not as much as the other social medias.
